If i used the mixer view in the main page processor would climb without falling back down (even with a single instrument) until overload spike and error message. Logic would be fine in some situations but suddenly be on it's knees with very little stuff happening. I have recently discovered what's been plaguing my system for months. I posted this a few days ago after reading your post but not sure if you've seen it so reposting here: Then I close that project, open the original one, and import the tracks I played. Not the handiest solution, I know.)Īnd even if that does not help, I tend to bounce the song and open a new project to play with heavy vsts. (You can always import the original instrument tracks if you need them. If this does not help, "bounce in place" as many tracks as you can, save the project with a different name, then delete all the instrument tracks you bounced. Not sure about this but it sometimes seems to help.Īlso, try activating "Low Latency Mode" while playing. Move the region on the audio track to the instrument track you were playing. ![]() Stop, then press the capture recording button on the transport area. ![]() Now you can play the instrument without serious overloads, I guess.? Does this sound like your problem? The occasional one core overload in Logic - solutionĬustomise control bar (right-click the grey area on top to see the option): activate "Capture recording"Īrm "record" on the instrument track you want to play (just the button, do not choose the track). If you have the instrument track (or a loaded aux track) as a chosen one, Logic will go to a certain live mode and overload one core. PLEASE NOTE: it is software monitoring causing the issues but this is what I want, so it must be a relation between the plug ins and the processing power, I think, I'm no expert by any means, however I am completely fed up now and i would just use my macbook but that is far from ideal. If anyone has a fix for this I will be so greatly in your debt. I have tried just about everything I found on forums and applecare etc and I am still having these pops and crackles/CPU spikes with the iMac To top things off I tried running Garageband, same issue, fine on the Macbook not on the iMacįurthermore I ran a plug in (amplitube 4.0) on its own, without LPX and still had the issues with the iMac and not the Macbook, so this suggested to me that it wasn't Logic that was causing the problem. I have purchased a new audio interface - Focusrite 2i2 - this has made zero difference on the iMac and works perfectly on the Macbook The iMac HDD and the external SSD have only the music production software and OS installed (Latest High Sierra - the same as the macbook) ![]() I have tried all combinations of running logic from the HDD and booting from the SSD, Boot from SSD and run from HDD, Run and boot from just the SSD, same with the HDD and so on.you catch the drift.still having the same problem. Software instruments run perfect at an I/O buffer rate of 128 on the Macbook, however on the iMac even with the highest I/O I still get the dreaded pops and clicks. I have tried a number of different versions of logic, 10.2, 10.3, 10.3.2Īll of which cause the CPU Spike on the fourth thread on the iMac, however on the Macbook Pro, no issue. I have tried a number of things and can only think that this is a hardware issue, I've tried this on both an iMac and a Macbook pro.Ģ.9Ghz i5 processor Dual core (or 4 multi threads)ĥ00GB SSD eternal usb 3.0 (which I am currently booting from)Ģ.4Ghz i5 Processor Dual core (or 4 multi threads) when running a software instrument on LP X I am coming accross a huge CPU spike making it impossible to record anything of any use. Hi all, I am getting a little sick and tired of trying things now, I have been searching for weeks for an answer to my prayers.
